Is making a child run laps around home for punishment cruelty?
It honestly depends on something so simply as: “how many laps?” In some cases, it would be no more cruel than sending a child to his/her room for a while, or grounding them. I guess all of this goes back to the phrase, “You have to be cruel to be kind”. All of the above punishments are done to try and instill the child with a conscience, and a sense of responsibility over their actions. All the same, all things can be taken to an extreme, at which point it can become ‘cruel’ or ‘abusive’.
