Is lying in order to spread Islam acceptable?
Yousef: The Islamic concept of lying is different than that taught in the Bible. For some Muslims, it is acceptable to lie to save face, to prevent hurting someone s feelings or to keep out of trouble. Religious leaders will give a fatwa (a law) to justify the lie. Some Muslims in America are told that it is all right to lie to the government because America is not an Islamic nation.
