Is Lubrex Cream considered hypoallergenic?
Lubrex Cream does not contain allergenic fragrances or perfumes. Fragrances can be found in many skin lotions and creams, and are one of the most common contact allergens. Lubrex Cream also does not contain lanolin, which may cause allergic skin reactions in some individuals. [Pratt et al., 2004;Wakelin et al., 2001] However, Lubrex Cream contains the antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and paraben preservatives. Reactions are considered rare, but a few people may be sensitive to these chemicals. [Flyvholm & Menne,1990; Mowad 2000; Soni 2001] There are no Federal standards to regulate or restrict “hypoallergenic” claims in cosmetics. Therefore, products labeled as “hypoallergenic” may still cause allergic reactions in some users.
