Is LPN Travel Nursing an Option?
Due to the nationwide nursing shortage, LPN travel nursing is now a more realistic option than ever before. In the past, travel nursing agency recruiters mainly focused on registered nurses, as RNs were in much greater demand among hospitals in need of qualified help. But more recently, especially in light of the budget woes that have hit many hospitals, some facilities are cutting costs by opting to employ the minimum number of RNs while having LPNs perform more of the work. Although this makes LPN travel nursing much more feasible, it’s not quite so simple. All of the great things you’ve heard about traveling nursing being a great opportunity are true for RNs, but, as with many nursing-related opportunities, the news isn’t as great for LPNs.
