Is Lorne Michaels busy framing the next presidential discussion?
One of my favorite spiritual thinkers, Richard Rohr, a contemplative Franciscan at the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico, is also a master motivator and presenter. In, “How to Breathe Under Water,” one of his many audio presentations, Fr. Rohr, on a tangent, makes the comment that there are think tanks in existence in the country that “frame the political discussion five years in advance of a presidential election.” Which is to say that how the 2012 election will be presented to American voters — the words that wll be used, the spin, the buzz — actually began in backroom meetings, bars and exclusive night clubs and living rooms almost two years ago. I thought it was a fascinating point to ponder and I have no doubt it’s true.
