They do teach long division in schools, generally however, it is taught in Elementary school, around 3rd or 4th grade. After you learn the basics, you go on to harder stuff, where it is easier to use a calculator to solve problems. I did use my long division last year in Algebra 2, where we did long division with algebraic problems, but don’t ask me to do it now, I have completely forgotten.
