James, New York City is a lot safer than in London. The crime rate in NYC is a lot lower than in London.

I’ve wandered the streets of London in the middle of the night (drunk), but I’ve never been to New York City. New York sounds a lot more dangerous to me, but maybe I wouldn’t feel that way after several drinks.

In the US gangs have much more availability to guns, so the gangs in New York City will have a lot more guns but this doesn’t mean they’re more dangerous. I’d say they’re equal, but dangerous in different ways.

Much more dangerous — London’s crime rate is about 7 times that of New York. Even though the article in the link is from 2006 I don’t think much has changed. Of course different neighborhoods are more or less safe. In general I believe London keeps getting worse while New York gets better. Bed Stuy has been getting gentrified in some parts.

Absolutely no more dangerous than London.All big cities worldwide are dangerous now if you put yourself in the wrong situations.I have been in San Francisco Bangkok HongKong Sydney Venice Miami Athens Barcelona Singapore Dubai Caroi and many more if you stay away from known bad areas and be aware you will be fine.
