Is Lisa Ray being quite brave then? Is she a big star in India?
She has been. She started as a model and did a couple of movies in India, but then moved away. She hasn’t been back to India for a long time now because she was getting typecast in the Bollywood world. She’s a very, very talented actress who pushes herself and is interested very much in the art and craft of what she does. I think she’s found European and American independents are the place to be. We just hit it off work wise and personally, so she’s a friend but she is also a very valued part of both of these films. Because of her fame in India there’s been a lot of notoriety on that side, but you know, if that doesn’t really affect her it doesn’t really affect me. I’m thinking about the furore that Fire caused a few years ago… There wasn’t so much in that. I Can’t Think Straight is very upfront about coming out in terms of sexuality.
