Is lethal injection inhumane?
We are witnessing a strange new controversy over whether lethal injection is too cruel and unusual to be used to kill unusually cruel people.A California judge recently stayed an execution to investigate allegations that prisoners suffer excruciating pain before death. Gov. Jeb Bush has stayed all Florida executions pending a Supreme Court decision. Reports last week of another botched execution made headlines, as did a study revealing that a possibly innocent Texas man died by injection because “bad science” supported his conviction.
