Is legalising drugs useless?
I believe legalizing most drugs would save tax money and reduce drug related crime. People who do so even with it illegal. I say sell it controlled like liquor, and tax it. The legal sales would put dealers out of business and the billions spent on the war on drugs could be stopped. Taxes on the drugs would make money for the treasury. Killing and stealing would drop because drugs would be available at a lower price. I dont believe addiction would be any worse than now. Drugs are readily available now so legalizing would only remove the criminal activity and make tax money.
There’s a lot of crime involved in underground trafficking of drugs. It’s illegal, people go to jail, people avoid being caught, people get shot or beat up or it, drug dealers get rich, and it’s expensive to those buying the drugs. Some even get killed or injured selling or trying to buy them while trying to avoid prosecution from our current legal system. Being underground, it cost a lot of money for everyone, and people get hurt. If it were legal and you could get it in the open market, prices would go WAY down and the drug peddlers would lose their customers. Why would you pay a drug dealer $300 for something you could get at a licensed dispensary for $25? Then, the government could tax it to raise revenue to pay down the national deficit. They already tax alcohol and cigarettes; why not drugs? Alcohol and cigarettes (nicotine) are simply drugs that are now legalized. This would also free up so much space in our jail system by releasing non-violent offenders – which saves us all mon
