PROMOTER CALLS ZEP WITHOUT PLANT “POINTLESS” John Paul Jones’ confirmation that Led Zeppelin plans to hit the road with another singer has met with strongly negative reaction in the group’s native U.K. British concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith, who put on the group’s December reunion concert in London, told the BBC news that a Zep tour without singer Robert Plant would be “pointless” and said he doubted it would even come off. “I just think it’s a lot of talk, I think it’s wishful thinking…I think some of the band really want to go out and do it and other parts of the band need to understand why they’re doing it, and if there’s no compelling reason to do it, then they shouldn’t do it.” Goldsmith also said that he didn’t think Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Jason Bonham would bill themselves as Led Zeppelin if Plant wasn’t involved.
