Is LED lighting as bright as conventional lighting?
LED lighting can be as bright as (or brighter than) conventional lighting. It compares most favorably to lighting that is designed to illuminate specific areas (below 180 degrees of angle) and least favorably to general area lighting (above 180 degrees). LED lighting designed for area illumination consists of several leds combined to provide equivalent brightness to conventional incandescent and fluorescent lighting. It is more difficult/costly to produce an equivalent area LED light. Comparision: Consider OIC’s 043 board. When used for under-counter or showcase lighting, (both examples of specific area lighting) a one foot OIC board compares roughly to a 60 watt incandescent light bulb.
