Is learning Classical Piano at 40 too old?

Absolutely you are not too old! My wife’s uncle started at the age of 70 and had no background: now he’s 75 and plays Bach’s Suites, a Mozart’s sonata and several other pieces in a good fashion. I have had pupils who started after 40 with good results as well. Just look for a good teacher and go ahead! The agility of fingers is not related to the age, as you can see in very old pianists running very fast on the keyboard, a thing that doesn’t happen to athletes. The real problem with starting elderly is being constant and patient!!!!! Remember that, paradoxically, faster and better results are achieved practicing very very very very slowly!
