Laurier’s School of Business and Economics is one of the best in Canada, but what Laurier is SERIOUSLY lacking is the name value/prestige. Laurier doesn’t have a reputation as an academic institution… they are known as a small, no-name party school. So if you want to work outside of Ontario, a Laurier degree might not be as recognized as other Canadian degrees. Besides, Laurier is more known for its BBA program than its accounting. (If you have the grades, ie. 90+, apply for the mathematics/computer science & business administration program at Waterloo/Laurier… that combination will get you wherever you want to go in the business world) If you are interested specifically in accounting, University of Waterloo is the place for you. They offer the best accounting program in Canada and they have all kinds of connections on Bay Street AND on Wall Street. So you have the option to work internationally if you wish.
