Is La Loire a river in France?

0

Yes. And an area. And shorthand for a type of wine. People say “in the Loire” when they mean the Loire valley and even a little beyond. The Loire starts flowing north in South East France (Ardeche) then cuts west across north-mid France and out to the sea. Most people mean the bit to the west of Orleans as “the Loire”. The area around the river is known for fruit growing, wine-making, glorious chateaux (Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau and so on) and a rich history since lots of Kings and Queens rather liked going there.
