Is Kuwait safe for Americans to live today?
I’m in Kuwait right now visiting my husband who works over here. I can assure you there is no war going on here and it’s perfectly fine and reasonably safe for Americans to live and work over here. If you don’t know the culture before you come over, I HIGHLY recommend you at least read up on it so that you know what to do and what not to do so you don’t offend a host nation resident (Kuwaiti) and get yourself into trouble. Just a few things to know, there is NO alcohol in the country due to the Muslim faith. Yes, you can buy Budweiser in the grocery stores, but it’s NON-alcoholic beer. And any restaurant like TGI Fridays and Chili’s (yes, they have them here) have bars, serve ‘mixed’ drinks and all, but no alcohol either. If you are caught with alcohol in the country you can end up in jail or kicked out of the country. As a female, you do not have to wear any sort of head coverings like the Abaya’s. Dress for women range from normal street wear of jeans and t-shirts to full on coverage
