Is knocking in a new cricket bat really important?
most bats come pre knocked in but you need to check .Knocking in compresses the fibres in the face of the bat and on the edge this will give more power to straight dives and any shot from the face of the bat .Compressing the fibres on the edge mean if you do miss hit and get an edge it wont damage the bat .If a bat is not knocked in the edge of the bat can easily split even with a protective covering.Knocking in does not really take much time I used to do it whilst waiting to bat.
