Is killing in a war against the 10 commandments?

its not the ten commandments for religious people that they need to worry about- actually in EVERY religion, there are issues of prohibitions against killing, and every religion also creates exceptions so as to further the needs of either its soldiers or the country in which it is the predominiant religion. the crusades for example, used the parallel that it was ok to kill “infidels”- the christians and muslims both applied this idea in different ways to get around thier religions anti-killing stance (granted, islam changed a great deal as to what was accepted after the crusades- but thats another issue). often used excuses is in fact like the crusades example- calling the enemy of the nation “the enemy of god” and demonizing them somehow. in deuteronomy- they actually have god commanding his people to commit rape and genocide (anyone else hear a toilet flush- thats the claim of the bible teaching “morailty” going down with the sewage). in a realistic interpretation (which would have t

The translation might be better said ‘You shall not murder’. There is evil in the world that should be killed. The flesh is not what God has created to last forever. It is the spirit. Death is a temporary state. God does not idolize the flesh like man does. God however, abhors the sacrifice of humans. But this is different than war. This is not to say that God wants war. Christ has instructed us to live in peace. But, to fight for your life is not a sin. To have an army prepared to fight for what evil wants to take away is not a sin. To defend youself or others is not a sin. Christ said no where that an army is sinful in itself. Come on. You people know that God doesnt want you to lie down when someone wants to kill you, or your neighbor. An army is no different than police, just on a bigger scale.

Killing is bad and wrong and evil. There is NEVER anything good about killing someone. However, it is sometimes needed to survive (e.g. in self defence). Nonetheless, that does not make it good.

Killing is killing and in self defence I think it would be allowed, but war isn’t *really* self defence in my opinion. But that’s just my opinion. If we can land on the moon then we can figure out a way to resolve conflict without killing people. I totally respect the people who put their lives at risk for peace keeping operations and stuff, but when we did this at school last year the other 6 kids who said that they had considered a career in the army were all boys who said they wanted to travel and kill people. I was like ‘erm…

Efforts at Justification The 1995 Britannica Book of the Year states: “Theological justifications for violence were attempted on several fronts in 1994.” Over 1,500 years ago, a similar attempt to justify killing was made by the Catholic philosopher “Saint” Augustine. According to the New Catholic Encyclopedia, he “was the originator of the just war theory,” and the encyclopedia notes that his thinking ‘exerts an influence even in modern times.’ The Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant churches have condoned, and even promoted, killing in the name of God. Although the record of these religions is a bloody one, that of many other major religions throughout the world is no better. How, then, can you identify the people who practice true worship? Not simply by listening to what they profess to believe. Regarding this matter, Jesus Christ warned: “Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. . .
