Is Kenya turning to a parliamentary democracy?

Parliament seems to have all of a sudden woken up to the reality, albeit belated, that it is the watchdog of the people and that it has the powers to protect public interest. Whether driven by the illegality of the move to re-appoint Aaaron Ringera or simply by selfish personal vendetta against the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission boss, it is the Ringera fiasco that has caused the volte-face. The Ringera debate seems to have opened up a pandora’s box. Barely hours after passing a landmark resolution petitioning annulment of Ringera’s reappointment, some MPs began another spirited bid to nullify a dozen appointments supposedly done out of the law in five parastatals.
