Is KE a scientific discipline?
“Knowledge ecology” is an interdisciplinary field of theory and practice, focused on discovering better social, organizational, behavioral, and technical conditions for knowledge creation and utilization. “KE as a discipline is the marriage of information science, social science, management science, natural science, and the creative arts.” (Arian Ward) It is a “perspective design approach and study, that recognize the importance of relationships, the diversity of knowledge forms and types, and the centrality of community when working with knowledge.” (Mike McMaster & Jack Spivak) “KE is a new iteration of the storytelling cultures of our ancestors, where stories were used not only to convey information, but to model behaviors, affect relationships and establish systems.
