Is joining a Band vs. Band Tournament any different since it involves more than one person?

No, single players still sign up for Band vs. Band tournaments as you would any other High Score or Concert High Score Tournament. However, unlike High Score and Concert High Score Tournaments, Band vs. Band Tournaments require you to play in a band of 3 or more players either locally or online, in order for your high scores to register for the tournament. All players who are signed up for the tournament, and who have successfully achieved a score together as a band, will be noted on the tournament standings.
