Is Jerry West still the president of operations of the Memphis Grizzlies?
West is no longer GM with Memphis but he did stay on as a consultant. I know that he was impressed with Crittenton so he may have had some influence in the deal. He is definitely not going back to the Lakers in any capacity. This isn’t that bad for the Grizzlies given what they were looking for. Brown’s contract expires after this year which allows Memphis to go after the big free agents this summer – Jamison, Arenas and Brand top the list. Or more likely reduces expenses to allow the owner to sell the team, which he has been trying to do for a while. Javaris Crittenton is going to be a top 10-15 guard in the league in 3 years. I’ve heard talent comparisons to Wade and Baron Davis. He may not get that good, but I think his lower end is 20 ppg and 6 ast.
