Is Jerry Kings structure more likely to boost tourism or draw strange looks?
By Amber Marra — amarra@nvdaily.com STRASBURG — Jerry King knows that his recent addition to the U.S. 11 corridor skyline has raised some questions. “Go ahead, tell me what you think it is,” King said when asked about the mysterious tower that recently sprung up next to the Ramada Inn annex, which he owns. King is calling the in-progress structure a viewing tower that will be used to give visitors a birds-eye look at the surrounding landscape and Cedar Creek battlefield. A similar structure at Culp’s Hill in Gettysburg, Pa., served as an inspiration to King to give Strasburg its own tower as a way to benefit the town and his business. “I hope that it’ll help with the tourism around here, I don’t know if it’ll work or not,” King said. The tower, which is currently under construction, will be 60 feet high with six levels accessible by stairs.
