Is Jackie Chan a real martial artist, or just an actor?

Wow… the 1st answer is written by someone just making stuff up… 2nd answer is pretty good.  Most of the others good but some…. well since I can’t say anything nice…

Jackie Chan IS a master at martial arts.  He is not (by trade) a teacher and the title "Master" is generally only given to teachers.

True he is a stunt fighter and as such does not deliver power in his blows… but that takes MORE control than someone who "fights" for real.   ‘Real" martial artists only need control in two dimensions.  Stunt fighters require control in three dimensions.

I make my living as a stunt coordinator for films and I teach people how to Fight for Film.  So I do know whereof I speak.

I’ve not had the pleasure of working with Jackie, but I’ve worked with people from his stunt team.  Jackie Chan IS the "real deal".

Jackie Chan is a stunt actor. He knows about wushu, but can’t be regarded as a master.Wushu is just like Chinese Calligraphy.Almost every adult Chinese can write the characters but not everyone is a calligrapher. We can feel the power in the moves by the wushu master. Not every one can feel that.If you have a rich experience in Wushu, you can tell whether the practicer is a beginner or not just from one stance.
