Jack Straw is an idiot, he has in his party at the heart of government someone who is not even an democratically elected MP, someone who is deciding not only the fate of the Royal Mail but also government policy on the rest of British industry, so he has neither the intellect nor the backbone to admit that he and his government have got it wrong not only on immigration but a whole host of other matters. In his little world, there are no problems as far as he’s concerned everything is fine and dandy.
jack straw avoided questions about new labours immigration policy because he knows they were in the wrong,he also knows that nothing can be done about it now and of all the issues that will be raised on the hustings the one issue that will cause the defeat of new labour is not economics but immigration
