Is it wrong to serve homemade food at a wedding?
Ya, we didn’t get our wedding catered, it was great. It was an outdoor wedding, so we rented a big grill and made tandoori chicken, which was awesome. We made huge batches of different interesting salads, most of our family pitched in. My mother in law made her famous cheese balls. We also went to our favorite bakery and bought a few of our favorite danish pastries, specifically kringle, we cut it up to serve to everyone. Our guest list was small, about 75 people, so it wasn’t too bad. Everyone had a fantastic time, and we had lots of comments like “best wedding ever” but we like it casual. It’s definitely a lot of work to even do casual for that many people, so if you want a swanky sophisticated menu, it would be really hard. If you’re ok with say a buffet table, and some appies, it’s great way to go. And if any of your guests are put-off by free food and a great time, they don’t deserve to be there. Have fun! That’s the most important part, and do what’s right for you. Pick a few goo
