Is it wrong to play card games?

This is based on what some Christians believe is an “association principle.” Something in itself may not be wrong, but is associated with something that is wrong and therefore somehow tainted. This can have to do with perceptions. For instance someone might see you playing cards and not know whether it is Crazy 8 or Poker. Of course looking for chips or a pile of money should be easy to tell. This is founded in the King James translation, avoiding “appearance” of evil. Actually that isn’t the best translation as seen by the modern versions. We are to avoid all kinds of evil. In my humble opinion there are enough things clearly wrong to avoid without worrying about playing deck cards.
