Is it worth having student membership of the british psychological society?

Yes it is worth the membership, no, it won’t necessarily give you any advantage – however you can create advantages using your membership. When you complete your degree however it is essential that you apply for graduate membership as many jobs will request that you have this. As a student member you may subscribe to a range of journals for a discounted rate. You will also receive “The Psychologist” the ‘magazine’ style publication each month, which includes the appointments, e.g. job opportunities. You will have the option of attending a range of talks/seminars for free, many of which will be very interesting, and which are usually held in central London (often near Euston or Holborn). Attending these talks and reading The Psychologist and any journals you may subscribe to may support your learning, and thus can offer an advantage. So the membership is worth the £21 to begin with, but the more you want from it, the more you can get out of it.
