Is it worth getting cord blood banked despite cost and no guarantee of future treatments being developed?

Well, while it is incredably expensive and you may not need it… You are wrong on the point about there not being any treatments. Cord blood is used in bone marrow transplants as an alternative to actual marrow or adult peripheral blood stem cells. If you do not bank, please consider donation. I went through stem cell transplant (the medically correct name for a bone marrow transplant) last year using cord blood and am now leukemia free. The transplant can be used for leukemias, lymphomas, several non cancerous blood diseases, and most auto immune diseases.
