No it is not weird to be an altar server girl. It used to be that boys were the only ones allowed to be altar servers. In 1994 the Vatican made a decision to let girls become altar servers. In many parishes around the world, there are more girls than boys as Altar servers. In some parishes, you no longer see boys as Altar servers. This function has been taken over by the girls. It is nice to have both boys and girls serve at mass.
