Is it weird that i find abandoned railroads interesting?

To answer your question, no, or at least I hope not. When I was a kid about 40 years ago we went on a trip to the mountains of NC. We were staying in these tourist cabins up a dirt road from the main highway. One night after supper my parents decided to walk further up the dirt road. I kept noticing rails in the road like the road may have been built over a railroad. We came around a curve and there was a couple of passenger coaches still hooked to a steam engine. To a young child it was unbelievable to see an entire train abandoned like that. Anyway I’ve been following abandoned railroad tracks ever since. Research as an adult has turned up evidence to support that this was some kind of tourist attraction that went broke. We went back to the area about 10 years later and the entire area was now a huge quarry. Someone told me that this train or parts of it were restored and used at Carowind theme park in Charlotte NC. If that’s correct then I rode behind the engine and never knew it. C
