Not really. When you look at the population of Canada in comparison to that of the other top medalling countries it’s actually pretty impressive where they are. I mean, Canada has about 1/10th of the population of the USA and about a third of that of Germany. To have comparible totals with these countries is pretty impressive. In addition, the Olympics aren’t that old yet, I mean, it’s only day 7. It’s the final medal standings that tell the story. Maybe Canada’s strong events haven’t completed yet (ie Curling, hockey). Last winter Olympics Canada came third and was only one medal less than the US. 1/10th the population and only 1 less medal…not sure which country is more successfull when you put it that way.
