Yes it is true – once a cast iron pan is properly seasoned the only way it should be cleaned is to scrub with running hot water and then place it back on the burner of the stove on high until all the water is gone.

You shouldn’t use any kind of soap or even a long soak on well seasoned cast iron. If you need to scrub it a bit, try doing it with a bit of salt on your sponge.
