I don’t know exactly what you’re asking, danvino, but your question brings to mind the world’s largest mammal, the blue whale, that eats planket by filtering sea water through the baleen (I think) in their mouths.

The whale is the world’s largest animal, yet it feeds on some of the sea’s smallest creatures, plankton, tiny ocean plants and animals that drift in the sea.
