Is it true that the senior seminar format has changed?
Yes. The format of 21&62:510:489, 490 (Senior Seminar) changed in the fall 2006 term. All History Majors at R-N and NJIT will still be required to complete these two courses. However, the courses will no longer be called the Senior Seminar, and students will be able to take them before the senior year. These courses are different from the Senior Seminar in several ways: 1). The current Senior Seminar includes students from all fields in History, and the students write about almost any topic they want. In contrast, under the new Seminar system, each course will be topically focused and will be taught by a member of the faculty with particular expertise in that field. 510:489 will be a topical seminar with particular attention to historical methods, while 510:490 will be a topically-focused research seminar leading to a substantial research paper. 2). The research paper in the 510:490 will be shorter than that expected in the current Senior Seminar. 3). Students will be encouraged to sta
