Is it true that taking just one aspirin a day helps to prevent heart attacks?
Aspirin has been shown to prevent heart attacks in men. Aspirin thins the blood in a way that reduces the risk of heart attack. Acetaminophen (tylenol), and ibuprofen (motrin) do not act in the same way. Aspirin may be a part of your efforts to decrease the risk of developing heart disease, but it will not solely eliminate your risk. Aspirin can have serious side effects when mixed with certain medicines so be sure to talk to your doctor first.
