He was hospitalized in October for a viral infection, and that’s when doctors found he had cancer. Billy Joe Daugherty died early this morning. (tulsaworld.com) Daugherty’s death was announced at church services this morning in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he lived and founded one of Tulsa’s largest churches, the Victory Christian Center. He also founded the Victory Bible Institute, which has 900 campuses in 93 countries, according to TulsaWorld.com. The associate pastor told the distraught churchgoers: “We don’t sorrow as the world sorrows, as one without hope,” he said. “We celebrate his life, but at the same time there is sorrow, there is grieving.”
