Is it true that Muslim men?
IF you bring true scientist to the table and all statistics plus conduct a survey to compare statistics of battered women in the US vs. a Muslim country or the Muslim world in general, the conclusion is hands down the US domestic abuse cases out number that of any Muslim’s society by a huge margin. You may not like this fact but it is true and you can do your own SCIENTIFIC research (not reading a hate article). http://new.vawnet.org/Assoc_Files_VAWnet… http://www.soundvision.com/Info/domestic… “An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.” “Most cases of domestic violence are never reported to the police. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between 1998 and 2002: * Of the almost 3.5 million violent crimes committed against family members,
I know a few muslim families from my travels. From what I have heard and seen the women hit the men as much as the men hit the woman. Maybe not all women do this. Just like here in the USA some women do not fight back against their husbands. Men in muslim countries are responsible for everything. The wives duties are to take care of the children, the house, and making dinner. The man is responsible for working mostly 2 jobs to keep the family in nice clothes, nice home and food on the table. If there is a problem at the school the father is called in. If anything is paid, it is the father’s responsibility to make the payment. Everything is in the man’s name and he alone is responsible. I once too thought women were second class citizens in Egypt. However, when I thought of her “job” compared to the husbands duties, I actually thought the wife got the better life, so to speak.
Taken from:http://www.readingislam.com/servlet/Sate… This verse has been greatly misconceived. Many people take it to allow wife beating, but this is not a correct interpretation of the verse. Islam is a whole system, so you cannot isolate one point without considering all other related issues. When the setting is not taken into account, it distorts and falsifies the original meaning. We should also keep in mind that the original Arabic wording of the Qur’an is the only authentic source of meaning. If one relies on the translation alone, one is likely to misunderstand it. The Arabic verb daraba is better understood as “hit” rather than “beat” (which means repeated hard hitting, usually with something). The one verse in the Qur’an that mentions this—Surah 4:34—has to be read in its entirety and understood in Arabic. Isla
