Is it true that marijuana is one of the highest oxygen producing plants in the world?
Actually, kudzu is the fastest growing plant in the world and thus the biggest oxygen producer. It is originally from Japan, and was used for almost everything there: decoration, making mats, making rope, etc. Unfortunately, some idiots thought it would be a good idea to take it to the South in the U.S. It exploded it was growing so fast. As it had no competition at all and no natural predators, it began growing at over a foot a day (it is a vine-like plant). Some people even said that it killed and ate people. Some people’s homes were swamped by the plant and they were forced to abandon them when the roofs caved in. The plant now grows faster than it can be cut down. You have kind of a good point, though, about marijuana. But the thing is, small plants have minimal effects on the CO2 levels. The majority of photosynthesis in the world is done by phytoplankton in the ocean. Our efforts would be better spent protecting the plant growth we already have than growing marijuana.
