I tend to know more about the FtM side, where it does seem like a lot of FtM guys who used to identify as lesbian (when they were female-bodied and unaware of their transsexuality) think they’re going to be heterosexual, but then end up finding a newfound attraction to men or other transmen. I’m not sure if that sort of orientation shift happens as often in MtF women, but I will post one of my standard answers: Let’s say you’re a transwoman. Before you transition, you exhibit some gender variance in one way or another- being “too feminine”, identifying more with the girls than boys, etc., etc.. You automatically feel drawn to the gay community, where more gender variance is allowed, or even celebrated- something it definitely isn’t in the straight world. You might not feel very attracted to men, but being in the gay community feels right in terms of how you’re allowed to act. And you’re somewhat confused about how you feel about women- as you’re struggling with your desire to a woman,
