Is it true that jogging and walking both burn the same amount of calories of the same distance?

No, jogging and walking burn the same amount of calories in the same amount of time, it’s just that jogging will take you further. Also, both forms of exercise will use different muscles in different ways, so you’re probably best to stick with doing both.

I’ve seen that before. The idea is that whatever distance you go the calories are the same, just the rate you burn them changes with how fast you go. That said, I disagree. When you walk, your calves, thighs and back do not work as hard as when jogging and running. In a brisk walk, your tush gets a great workout, and you have to lean into it a tiny bit. Jogging, there’s a little more bend in the knee, and little more push off with the calves, and little more lower back work as you have a bit more vigorous landing. So I think it burns more calories.

I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT JOGGING WOULD BURN MORE CALORIES BECAUSE YOUR HEART RATE GOES UP AND YOUR BODY IS WORKING AT A HARDER RATE.
