Is it true that Jehovahs Witnesses cannot hold public office or vote in an election?
Not exactly, for either assertion. A Jehovah’s Witness may choose to accept an appointment to a certain public office (such as a commissioner or agency head), although he would not politic for it. Also, technically, Jehovah’s Witnesses can vote (see The Watchtower of November 1, 1999, pages 28,29). Almost uniformly, however, they choose not to. They believe that God’s Messianic Kingdom is a real government which will soon replace all human governments.
