Itsa folk tale possibly originating from a zoonose…that is a disease that can be passed from rabbit to human. Tapeworms could cause blindness in a baby, but that is passed on in faeces (not sure if that includes rabbit faeces), most commonly dog faeces. Basically, I think its a good idea to keep animals of all sorts away from babies…animals DO have germs that babies can get…for example, guinea pigs can carry salmonella. Although this is rare, there are other health issues like the animal scratching, biting or otherwise, or welfare issues like the child unintentionally hurting the animal.
