Is it true that horses and goats make good companions?
Horses and goats are herd animals and are usually more relaxed when they have a herd mate however, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration before attempting this. Quite some time ago goats were used as companion animals for high strung horses to keep them calm before a race. Unscrupulous competitors would steal the goat the night before the race causing the horse much distress and usually squashing any chance of that horse winning the race. Hence the old saying “I have got your goat”.
