Is it true that highly toxic substances such as dioxins are given off during the PVC production process?
PVC, in its present use, does not show traces of dioxin, therefore the end user cannot come into contact with it. It is necessary to distinguish between the production of the raw material (PVC) and the finished product (PVC flooring). The first case, as mentioned previously, involves the production of VCM. It is not true that the production of VCM implies the emission of significant quantities of dioxin. The sites that produce VCM are equipped with technologies that provide for the destruction of the small quantities of dioxin that are created as by-products, and emissions into the atmosphere are irrelevant and in respect of current legislation. To make PVC flooring manufacturers purchase the polymer of PVC, whose transformation into a finished product does not produce any trace of dioxin.
