In the southern region of Florida (Miami/Tampa/Orlando area), alligators are commonly found in residential areas but rarely attack civilians. Alligators in this area have been known to sneak into pools, porches, front yards and highways, but Animal Control always take care of the situation if called upon. Whereas in the Northwest region of Florida, alligators are rarely ever seen in residential areas and even in the wilderness.
