Is it true that african-american people have different bone structure in their feet?
I swim, SCUBA dive, and snorkel, so I’m pretty sure the swimming thing isn’t true. Also here where I live in South Florida, they’re getting ready to send an African American swimmer to the Olympics from one of the schools here. One thing also is that African Americans in this country tend to be concentrated in urban areas. Not alot of swimming going on there except for public pools, which are full of us, actually. And (being partially Jamaican), I can tell you that the Black island people, and Africans (having travelled to Africa when I flew for Delta Airlines) spend a great deal of time in the water. Your doctor may be thinking of something Jimmy the Greek (a sports commentator) said and got in trouble for about blacks being better atheletes having bigger thigh muscles, or may just be misled altogether by things he’s heard without researching. We do tend to be more muscular and have denser bones, which is different from just “heavier,” especially in the United States, but if you think
First, African American isn’t a race. They’re people who have at least some ancestors that came from sub-Saharan Africa, so they whole idea is silly. The thing about sports is, since a higher percentage of Blacks than whites are poor, and sports is a field you can gain fame and money, Blacks are more likely to pursue careers in sports — the ones the poor can get good at when they’re young are those that don’t require expensive equipment or places to play. As many of the answers point out, the idea that Blacks don’t or can’t swim is simply false.
