Is it true that a dogs saliva can heal wounds?
I go with Rokie H. Myth Busters did an experiment with dogs saliva and a humans – the humans was far, far dirtier! What does help to heal the wound is that the licking cleans any debris and necrotic matter and causes stimulation thus encouraging healing. I had a horse with a very nasty wound on its hind leg. It was so sore and hard to keep clean but, my old Border Collie started licking it and the horse just relaxed resting that leg so it was easier for the dog to get to. That wound healed faster once the dog started her twice daily routine.
