Is it true that 99% of people that listen to classical music are smart?

No, it is not. Appreciation of classical music has nothing to do with IQ: there are people with all levels of IQ that love classical music, including people with IQs that fall within the retarded range. It probably takes some intelligence to be able to grasp things like form etc, but the ability to do so is not necessary for enjoyment of the music, (although it does enhance such). Advanced musical intelligence can occur alongside low general intelligence; Oliver Sacks has written of cases.
