Is it true religion has been the major cause of war killing in the name of god?
In the past, religion has been a major excuse for wars. However, as we have seen the rise of secular, nonreligious societies/governments, we have not seen a lessoning of war and suffering. The communist governments of the twentieth century by definition are atheists. However, they have been just as violent and brutal as religious governments have been. Stalin killed more of his own people than Hitler did in his concentration camps. The North Koreans invaded South Korea in an attempt to force their form of government onto the South. Now the people of North Korea are suffering under one of the most oppressive regimes in the world. North Vietnam invaded and eventually conquered South Vietnam. All of those that dared to resist the North’s conquest were shipped off to “reeducation camps” where millions died. The list can go on.
